Do I receive dividends from my ETF investments?

Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) buy shares of a number of stocks on behalf of their investors, and when those stocks pay dividends, the money is passed along to the investor. Most ETFs pay out these dividends quarterly on a pro-rata basis. The payments will be based on the number of shares the investor owns. Some ETFs pay dividends monthly. The dividends are typically paid either in cash or in additional shares of the ETF.
